Congratulations on the great performance at Chapel Hill! I am a member of another Wake County band and love the competitiveness you add to the local band scene. The difference in the level of musicianship between your performance at the Sanderson competition and last week at Chapel Hill was amazing. But you better stay focused because everybody will be gunning for you from now on!!! Just kidding. Good luck to Green Hope this week at Cary.

Hey guys! I came to check out the guestbook today to see what people were thinking about the trip and everything and it made me want to voice my opinion too. I know that I really want to go on this trip. Although it is not the most exciting or exotic trip I have ever taken it would really be a great experience. I want to say to all the worried parents that maybe if you talk to your children about what the trip and the band means to them then maybe it will help you make a decision in the best intrest of everyone involved. That's what my parents did. They decided that I could go because they talked to me and realized that I do know whats going on in the world but I still think that this trip is safe. I know as a junior(although I think half the band thinks I'm a senior) that I could have a chance at a great trip next year if this one doesn't work out but it wouldn't be with the same "family" that I have spent three years with. I do consider this band my extended family and I don't know what I would do without band and "band dorks" in my life. Basically what I'm trying to say is that I personally don't think that anyone is going to attack a stadium full of a couple thousand band parents. If some people still don't want to go I would respect that but at least listen to your students in the band who have worked so hard for this. So think hard and try to understand our point of view. Hi everyone. I haven't looked at this guest book in awhile, but I must say, I totally agree with everything Stacey said. From a senior's point of view, this is it. There are no more chances for us seniors to get invited to a bowl game as a high school band. I already know I will probably cry when I play Southern Harmony with this band for the last time, wearing a GH band uniform for the last time. I'd like that moment to happen somewhere special. I'm not trying to offend anyone, and I will respect the opinions of everyone no matter what, but here are some things I've just got to say: After Columbine, we didn't stay home or withdraw from high school out of fear. Last year, when that bus full of band students crashed, we didn't refrain from taking buses to competitions out of fear. THe thousands of people that go to work everyday as pilots and flight attendants didn't quit their jobs out of fear. THey have committed themselves to their passengers, and I believe we need to put our trust in them, and a higher power, that everything will turn out OK. THere was a reason we were invited to this, and now we must fulfill that. I understand that not everyone is pulling out of the trip solely because of fear, and again, I can (and hopefully we all can) respect that. Whatever happens, we've got to make sure we all pull together and not divide as a group over something like this. We're too good of a group for that.

Hey guys!! I just got home from the meeting that I know the majority of us attended. I just wanted to voice some of my opinions that I didn't have a chance to talk about at the meeting. First of all, I just wanted to say that I am 100% for this trip. I think it is the opportunity of a lifetime and I cannot think of any reason at this point that is serious enough to cause any of us to miss that opportunity. For those parents out there who are considering or have already decided that they will not allow their kids to go on this trip, I have a few things to say that I hope will not offend anyone, but will hopefully help you think again about that decision before it is final. First, if you are concerned about the security of the airlines, I have some evidence that every possible measure is being taken to be sure everyone is safe in the air. My mother left on a business trip this morning and my father flies in and out of Raleigh every week for his commute. They were both very nervous to fly at first, just like everyone else, but when my mother called me this afternoon, she was clearly convinced that everything was as safe as it could possibly be. She said that there were U.S. Marshals and National Guardsmen everywhere and that the security precautions that are being taken could not be any more thorough. If you are concerned about something happening while your child is in a large crowd or in a stadium with a lot of people, then are you also going to tell your child that they can't go to school tomorrow because there are a couple thousand people at the school and that that is a safety risk?? Are you going to let this one event change your entire life?? Also, have you parents that are going to say no considering your teenagers feelings at all? Because I am a teenager myself, you might just tell yourself that I say that because my parents do it to me, and that I just want to feel more important, but that is anything but the truth. I just want to let you know that I am trying to convey the point of view of the teenagers who give up their summers, their mornings (when everyone knows that it takes a very committed group of teenagers to get up an hour early in the mornings), their afternoons, and a lot of time on their weekends to do this activity and do well at it--well enough to earn the right to be invited to a national event and competition after only one year of working at it. That proves that all of the people in this organization have worked incredibly hard and that is also proven by the fact that even after our competition on Saturday where everyone was disappointed with our performance, we are all still willing to work as hard, if not harder, to accomplish the high goals that we set for ourselves. I believe that everyone in our group deserves this opportunity to have an amazing time with people with whom they have an incredibly special and irreplaceable bond. So, in conclusion, I beg of each and every one of you to simply consider the points I have made and if it has helped you feel any better about the logistics of this trip, I have accomplished my purpose. Thank you for taking the time to think this over one more time and for having an open mind toward any new ideas or possibilities. Green Hope Marching Band Forever!! Love always~ Stacey

I don't know why I thought to say this, but somehow it just felt like the right moment to say it (for those of you who were on the bus, I just felt like it might help for the rest of the band to hear it): I know that the events of Saturday night were disappointing to say the least. I know that we all were a little bit frustrated, all a little bit angry, for "failing" to live up to our expectations of what greatness should be. Personally though, I have never been prouder to be a part of the GH band. All we can give is all we have and that's what we gave that night. The music was filled with passion and I felt a rush of emotions that I can honestly say I've not felt before. The greatest part of this activity, the best part, is not about winning or losing. It is about working with the people you love to do the thing you love. I know that we will get through this if we put our focus on the tasks at hand and it makes me so happy to think about the night that we will be in the UNC stadium…on the field. When we look back at this, it won’t be the disappointments and frustrations that we remember. What we will remember is how we got through it to achieve our dreams, together. And I am so excited to be a part of it.

I want to thank everyone for letting me be in this AWESOME band. This is nothing compared to Apex. Our band is full of the most talented musicians I have ever scene and heard. And a big thank you to Mary Catherine for giving up her clarinet spot to play tuba, or I would not be in this band. yea-it's been a hard transition from different schools! But the #1 reason I came to GH is to be in this band that just blows me away. All of you put so much passion into what you do, and I respect all of you. I know how you did last year, which is awesome for your 1st show, but a lot of people don't relize how upsetting it is to be at a competition and have your name not called. I guess what I'm trying to say is keep your chins up and focus, because I KNOW we can make the night show @Tarheel and Pheonix. Love you all! ~Princess Mary

P.S. Thanks Erika for being a great friend! 1st step in life is to ...?!:) ANd purple monkeys like to do the tango wearing coca-cola boxers!! Hehe

Usually I come here and read what other people have written, but today I decided to leave my own message. Yesterday in class was more important to so many of us than I think we will ever be able to express. The power and passion that was shown in our playing yesterday will never be forgotton. I think those moments will stay in our memory even more than this terrible tragedy will. Instead of tearing us apart, this has really brought us closer together. We will remember how we all came together, as we usually do, to comfort one another. As dorky as it sounds, I am so thankful that I am in the band. Everyone means so much to me and I am especially happy that we can all stand by each other in a time like this. As Aimee said, we all have our moments of fighting but we all love one another. All of my best friends in the world were there yesterday to share those moments of sadness and grief with me. I am grateful that we can all help each other through the process of healing. I guess finally I just want to say thank you to everyone...just for being yourselves. That means more than you will ever know. Love Always, Meghan

In the face of tragedy, it is beautiful to be reminded of the bonds of fortitude and love that unite us. Just yesterday, I believe that we all experienced musical passion at its pinnacle and the full meaning of the music struck like it never has before and perhaps never will again, at least not in quite the same way. Music is a form of expression that transcends the distinctions of personalities and it is truly amazing how it can unify so many different personalities into One. Let us all remember that in the dimmest of moments there is an indomitable spirit that shines within us to pull us through. Hold on to it. It will get us through anything.

To my Beloved Band Friends and Family, Tuesday, September 11th, 2001, the terrorist attack on New York City, marks the second day of United States history that will live in infamy. Wednesday, September 12th, 2001, is a day that will forever live on in my heart, and in the memory of the Green Hope Band. There are so many different kinds of people in our band, and sometimes we fight with them, are hurt by them, or especially, love them. Today, we all came together in the midsts of sorrow and terror to mourn the tragedy of New York City and the United States of America.

I will never forget the looks that passed from every band member to another when Mr. Beamish asked if us if we wanted to be true musicians and play... I cannot forget how everyone then sniffled up their tears, scooted to the edges of their chairs, and pulled up their instruments... I will never forget the devastated sobs, the painful sniffling, the passing of tissue boxes, the faces of musicians covered in flowing tears while they choked on notes... I cannot forget how people dropped out to hold their neighbors' hands, to sing, to whisper their "I Love You"s... and then picked up their instruments to continue on... I will never forget the beautiful silence that ascended at the end of American Elegy... I can never forget the rare beauty that we all witnessed today...

Today, all of us became musicians... but more importantly, human... again and together.

With Love, Always, *Aimee Kresica*

What a fine opening night! Way to focus and commit. You have a great road ahead of you if we can maximize our rehearsal time. Prepare at home, come ready to do your best, open your ears for feedback and watch this thing take on a life of its own. You are amazing young people. When we put the talent with the work everything you want will result.

Keep up the Mo guys.

I would like to thank Frank Brown for his hard work and and dedication that resulted in the creation of the band's first video. The video is an excellent document that shows the band's progress during its first competitive year. Since we band parents cannot go to all the band's activities, the video shows us (some of) what happened at band camp, the bus trips and the competitions the band went to. I especially like the band member's comments and the scene at the hotel where the South Gwinnett results were announced. Also interesting were the alternating scenes of the colorguard practicing and the other members eating. (I hope it really didn't happen that way!!!)

Anyway, thanks for the video and thank you band for such a great competitive first year. If the preview last Wednesday is any indication, I am looking forward to your continued success this year.

I just wanted to say "hello" to Mr. Beamish and a send a "hug" to all the Green Hope students that were in the Spencer Band at UNCG. We had a great time!!!!...some at Mr. Beamish's expense....HA!

You guys are going to have a GREAT time in Phoenix. It is an incredible trip. I am sure that your band camp went well.....we had rain almost the entire time for ours....but managed to survive. Take care of Tony....he is so very fragile...don't let him get wet...and by all means, don't get silly string or shaving cream on him...ha!

Can't wait to see you all later in the fall. Best wishes for a GREAT season and school year.

Um i normally dont sign the guestbook infact this is my first time even clicking the link but as I was talking to a friend of mine who was visiting her grandparents in ohio the conversation begun to astonish me as she continued to talk please read:

si*verc**m84: yeah thats understandable! Hey guess what! PPl here in Ohio has heard of the GHHS band! I didnt know you guys where that good!

t**lla: hahaha thats funny

silve**rm84: they must work you hard!

t0z***la: are u serious?!@?!?@

silverc*m84: yes seriously! I was doing Homearama here in Ohio which is like the parade of homes, and some kids from high school were working for their band, and I asked them if they have ever heard of GHHS in NC and they were like YEAH!!! they are really good!

t0***lla: haha u are kiddin right? u sure it was our school!?

sil***m84: yes I'm sure! I said Green Hope High School in NC...they went to a few smaller competitions but won them all and they were like yeah!! they did really well!

t***lla: thats awesome

si**rm84: yeah I was really shocked!

t***lla: they could have been pulling your leg though

si***8rm84: No they werent! I talked to three diff kids on 3 diff days from there

silv****rm84: and one dad

in conclusion falcon regiment I believe that General George S. Patton said it best:

A pint of sweat, saves a gallon of blood.

I believe its the same thing in our case except blood being tears. If we work our ahem* butts of during band camp and contiue to give all we have all the way through our december performance we will be able to continue doing what we have allready been doing unknowing which is build a reputation for our schools and ourselves and to also be able to know later on in life when we really need to be motivated and say hey i remember when i was in high school and all i had to do was dedicate, work hard and inspire to be the greatest and it brought me lots of recognition.

LETS KEEP THE FALCON FLYING HIGH AND PROUD.

I know Mr. Beamish quite well and have great respect for him as a director and friend. Green Hope is very fortunate to have such a fine director.

Also, I had the chance to judge your band at Festival this past March. What a wonderful performance! Congratulations!

Good luck with your marching season this year. Rumor has it that you will be a real contender at Chapel Hill. What an accomplishment for a high school band that has not been around very long. We look forward to seeing and hearing your band. Your trip to the Fiesta Bowl will be wonderful. My band went last year and felt that it was our best trip ever!

Best wishes to all!

Hey guys! I guess all anyone knows me as is that obnoxiuos girl who somehow got into marching band without knowing anything about anything and somehow surviving. Well I just want you to know that this has been the most memorable year ever for me and I owe you guys everything!!!! I never would have made it through without you all. I'd also like to recognize the low brass especially Dave, Rory, Aimee, Mike and yes JC too. Without them I would have packed it up and walked away a long time ago. They're not the only ones...everyone in the whole band that didn't rip me apart every time I screwed up..which yes happened often..deserves my appreciation! Sorry this is really long and boring but I really need to tell you guys how much you and the band means to me! Again, like Melissa said I don't know who all is gonna read this but anywho... I LOVE YOU GUYS! I can't wait to see what we can do in the future. ~Claire~ Hey T, you are sexy! :) Black Crowes rule!

Hi guys. It looks like no one has posted here in a while so I decided to make the effort. I'd like to congratulate everyone on what they did this year in the marching band. I'd also like to wish everyone the best of luck in learning their parts for the festival. Also, I've learned recently that my time in band could be limited. There is a chance that I won't be taking band next year. Oh well. Thats my problem. Good luck Falcon Regiment! Musically, Jon Hyde

Hey everyone, I'm not too sure if anyone has really looked at this much but I thought I might write something in it. Well, what can I say, we had a great season and I had lots of fun thanks to all the people who made it that way. Mike Smith, Rory, Dave, and Tom - you guys are the best. You always make me laugh. I love you guys!!! Milton, Andy, and the rest of the percussion rock! You guys are awesome and I love ya too!!! In John T's response he said he was "the sexiest in the saxophone section"...... I don't know about that one John.....you're forgetting I'm in that section!!! Just Kidding, but should Toscano's , Hauser's, and Walsh's opinion really count??? Just kidding again guys. Anyways, again I had an excellent season and I hope we have an even better one next year! I still can't believe we had an undefeated season but hey, I guess all the work payed off!!! Thanks a bunch!!! Love Always, Melissa Rafetto

Sweet, first person to sign the BAND guestbook. Hey man I'd just like to say that half of the people in band don't know me cause I don't talk alot...but I'd just like you to know that out of the saxophone section I without a doubt am the sexiest. Just ask Hauser, or Kuntu, or Toscano, or yes, even Walsh. So many to choose from. Anyway, good luck to the band at their next competition at Lumberton. Take care everyone. -Tomasevich
